Monopoly -> The board game…online?

What is this ‘Monopoly’ you speak of?

Ever remember playing that old, but fun, board game in which one dominates the market involving properties? Well, most of us would recognize this as Monopoly, with the little old guy always sending you to jail and stuff(atleast for me). So what’s new? Well, this interesting game is now available online! What’s even better? Unlike before where you would have to bother your parents and siblings to play, instead, now you can jump right on it with other people around the world.

Even better, you can choose your own rules and most importantly, its really fast compared to the traditional physical board game. Many times participants of a game would leave and the person with the most properties and money would win. Well now for once(thank God), its fast enough to end in less than 30 minutes if everyone cooperates. I was playing and I wasn’t able to stop for about two hours. This simple, but effective, will serve your gaming needs for quite a while before you get bored.

How does it work?

Like the board game, you choose a game piece, and you play like you always did(buy property, take rent from others, and sell it to others), except now, its all virtual and faster. When you start off, you can select the option to distribute most of the game property among players equally without breaking anyone’s heart. They are also different types of monopolies in the lobby including Boardwalk and Park place. Everything is by Atari and it is free. They also have other games which you may be interested in.

Any negative parts regarding the game?

Like many games, this is an online, interactive game. Occasionally, when a person leaves, you might suffer ‘lag’ and turbulent. If too many things are going on at once, you can also lag because of that. Also, since its actual people(you can play with your friends if you wish), you might find yourself playing with a few opinionated people who wont sell you their property; thus, ruining your chances of winning. Of course, this does not happen often, but be aware of it when it does. Finally, you might find yourself struggling in navigating gaming tools or finding buttons. Some things may seem new to you but they’ll sharpen up and you’ll find yourself having a fun time in the end.

To play, simply go on games.atari.com and click monopoly. Sign up from there as it is swift and smooth and go on from there by selecting a type from the lobby and joining/creating a table.
