AT&T is on profit strike. It increased its profits not only from the smooth integration from bellsouth’s wireless empire, but also because from iPhone’s wireless service. (Yes, iPhone service is only available via AT&T).
Shares of AT&T (nyse: T - news - people ) rose 69 cents, or 1.7%, to $41.86, in early trading on Tuesday, after the telecommunications provider said its third-quarter profit rose 41.5%, to $3.1 billion, from $2.2 billion a year ago.
AT&T’s main surge was not only the acquisition of Bellsouth and Cingular for $67 billion, but also the release of iPhone. 1.4 million iPhone have been sold, and not only Apple is benefiting, but so is AT&T. AT&T boost its third-quarter sales 92.9%, to $30.1 billion, from $15.6 billion a year ago. That’s a great turnout, and buying Bellsouth has definitely been worth it.
On the contrary, Shares of Apple were up $13.08, or 7.5%, to $187.44, in early trading on Tuesday.
