Halo 3- are you in?

With all the hype that surrounded the release of this game, I would say I was still very impressed with how it turned out. I don’t think they let many people down in the making of this game. It has state of the art graphics, which is even better with an HDTV. The structure of the game is similar in ways to the other series in this game, but one thing they improved drastically on was the equipment. Now there are more options then ever to choose from. There are tons of new weapons, which are all awesome. The coolest feature that I liked was the addition of the Bubble Shield, its fun to use while playing. You should go out and get this game if your into shooting, and multiplayer games.

How to improve your business with psychology

Today, in psychology I discovered that companies actually pay tens of millions of dollars to find the best formula of success in sales.

Well what do they use?

Well, the tactics they use is how the human mind works. We people, the consumers always want a freebie. We always seek for freebies, and that’s one tactic. Publix uses sampling, and that’s a very good method of selling a product. They give us a free sample on new juice, why not take it?

Sampling, giving out freebies, and word of mouth is one of the best way of advertising.  Get your product out there, samples start first.

Venture capitalists

A little quick sprout information on who and what venture capitalists are do. Venture capitalists are basically investors with lots of money, and the seek a share in companies with their large amount of cash. As it is obvious, starting a company requires initial funding for marketing, assets, etc. Sure, why would I need investors when I go to a bank? Well, the answer isn’t that simple, because banks first of all don’t buy themselves in just about any plan. Second, they can’t provide you extremely large funds in a period of short time. Third, they charge you interest rates, at a off the roof level. So, if your company is losing money in its first year, you are already in debt.

However, a venture capitalists is investing at his own risk. You give him a share. The google investors were quite happy with their ROI. Rate of return.

Investment- Black Friday the money maker

I think the answer is very obvious, but I didn’t realize that till’ today. The items on blackfriday are always a good buy, because they always have a excellent resell value on online stores. I see many people buy various items, and they get nearly double the price for what they paid for.

For example, I ordered a Zune ( I cancelled, and realized it was a mistake), and the price was $95 + 6 shipping so $101 total. Then just after five days, the price of a zune 30gb 1st generation is nearly $156 on ebay. That’s a chopping 50 dollar profit doing nothing. If you had bought 4, you just made $200, which I don’t think is bad.

Save your money, and know the market. Buying and selling is a key to getting up there, but you just have to know what and when. Having liquidated cash is the best thing to have at all times. You never know when an opportunity will pop up.

Sears buying restoration

Sears Holdings Corp. said it may make a binding tender offer to buy Restoration Hardware Inc. if the home furnishings retailer provides access to confidential information, according to a regulatory filing Monday.

Based on public information, Sears said it is prepared to offer $6.75 per share for Restoration.

Restoration Hardware told Sears that it is unwilling to sign the confidentiality agreement on Sunday, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

In a letter to Restoration Hardware’s special committee dated Friday, Sears said it has made “numerous requests” to receive confidential information to determine whether to submit a binding proposal for the company.

Sears’ offer for the company would compete with Restoration Hardware’s previous agreement, announced Nov. 8, to be acquired by private equity firm Catterton Partners for $267 million, or $6.70 per share.

In its letter, Sears said Restoration Hardware did not provide the company with guidance or information that would have enabled the company to submit a superior proposal in advance of the Catterton agreement.

On Nov. 19, Sears purchased a 13.7 percent stake in Restoration Hardware and said it is considering a takeover of the specialty home furnishings retailer.

Restoration Hardware shares dipped 8 cents to $6.98 in morning trading, after closing Friday at $7.06. Sears shares fell $2.49 to $110.09.

Sears is buying restoration. Restoration a hardware company already had sold 13.7 to sears, but now since sears wants to dohmeenate, it can’t bear the sharing of revenues.

Acquisitions are such a vital part of a business. Making a business grows first requires to look at your competitors. You can make it? why not buy it? Keep this concept in mind, and you shall atain anything.

Why companies should consolidate

Consolidation has been become one key element of business. Without merges, and acquisitions, it would be difficult for companies to survive in the giant market. Companies have to keep merging in order to get bigger, and obviously, make the most money.

Well, what are the reasons to consolidate?

  • Consolidation helps cut down costs. If delta uses UA hubs, it can cut costs. Additionally, it will have same people managing, rather than hiring new.
  • It helps grow. Companies grow
  • Economy is under control. Prices are stable.
  • People don’t like it, but you have to in order to survive
  • It’s a survival tool in business.

Delta merging with United Airlines

The rumors are around, and it is true that Delta is merging with United Airlines. Delta said it will reduce around $585 million in expenses, and it will be the largest in the aviation sector. What more? United Airlines, too had been seeking for a alliance, and I think them two will make a good merge. What to expect? Higher costs for traveling in flights, as petroleum price rises, and a domination from Delta.

Moreover, many airline companies had filed bankruptcies after the Sept 11 attack. So, this merge is more of a necessity, than a choice.

Walmart revenue increases.

Instead of me explaining the whole scenario, I’ll let the press take this one

Here is the press release

Wal-Mart (WMT - Cramer’s Take - Stockpickr - Rating) topped third-quarter earnings estimates and lifted its profit forecast for the year, noting improved results at its U.S. division and a tightened focus on inventory. The profit beat and relatively optimistic outlook helped ease some fears about the retail giant’s position ahead of a holiday season that is largely expected to be sluggish. Shares of Wal-Mart were jumping $2.32, or 5.4%, to $45.64 early Tuesday.

The Bentonville, Ark., company reported third-quarter earnings of $2.86 billion, or 70 cents a share, up from $2.65 billion, or 63 cents a share, a year earlier. The results included a 1-cent-a-share tax-related gain.

Last month, Wal-Mart bumped up its third-quarter earnings per share estimate to a range of 66 cents to 69 cents from an earlier forecast of 62 cents to 65 cents — a surprise move amid continuing weakness in its home furnishings and apparel categories as well as an overall lackluster retail environment.

Analysts, on average, most recently expected a profit of 67 cents a share, according to Thomson Financial.

Wal-Mart’s revenue rose to $91.95 billion from $84.47 billion a year earlier. Analysts projected revenue of $91.77 billion.

Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, inched up 1.5%.

“Our results for the third quarter reflect the improved performance of our U.S. operations. Both Wal-Mart Stores U.S. and Sam’s Club increased profits faster than sales. Wal-Mart International posted a solid quarter as well,” said Lee Scott, Wal-Mart president and chief executive, in a statement. “Our focus on managing inventory this quarter was very positive.”

At the Wal-Mart Stores U.S. division, operating income jumped 11.1%, while sales climbed only 6.4%. In raising its guidance last month, the company pointed to improved expense controls at the division, which has been struggling over the last two years with meager sales growth.”

Walmart has had a quite a jump in revenue. Despite the economy fluctuations in the housing market, it didn’t stop walmart from making money. By the way, did you guys know that Walmart family is the richest family in the world? Well, I would never doubt that, as they have giant stores everywhere.
